Question 1

A specialist sports jersey manufacturer controls fabric, construction, trims, decoration and QC as one recorded specification, which is what keeps fit and color consistent between the first run and the reorder.

Accepted Answer

Working with a manufacturer that specializes in sports jerseys means one team controls the fabric spec, construction, trims, decoration and quality standard as a single recorded specification — which is what keeps fit, color and hand-feel consistent between the first production run and the reorder. On this category specifically, the controls that matter are: full-color sublimation printing for team and brand graphics; custom numbering and player names included in the print file; contrast panels, collars and cuff treatments specified with the pattern. Those are specification items, not preferences. When they are recorded they repeat; when they are agreed verbally they drift between runs.A useful way to tell a factory from a trading company: it asks about your fabric, sizing and timeline before quoting; it flags problems before you find them, such as warning that sublimation moves the whole graphic into the fabric rather than onto it, which is why it does not crack or peel — but it also means the artwork must be final before printing, because there is no second pass on a full-color print.; it shares evidence such as QC checklists and measurement sheets; it discusses specific defects rather than claiming perfect quality; it is willing to run a small pilot order; and its business entity and factory address can be verified independently. The commercial frame: minimum order 100 pieces per color per style, sampling in 7–10 days, bulk production in 25–35 days, and indicative FOB pricing in the costed per unit, driven by fabric technology, sublimation coverage and finishing range.VANRD manufactures in Dongguan, China, with ISO 9001 process control, with BSCI or WRAP social compliance and OEKO-TEX Standard 100 fabric certification available.Tell us what you are developing and we will tell you honestly whether it is a good fit for our line — contact VANRD.

Question 2

A first custom sports jersey sample takes 7-10 days and bulk production runs 30-45 days after pre-production approval. Most programs need one to three sample rounds.

Accepted Answer

A first custom sports jersey sample takes 7–10 days after the specification and available materials are confirmed, and bulk production runs 25–35 days after pre-production approval. Most programs need one to three sample rounds, which is where the real calendar is decided.Stage by stage:Specification review — 1–5 days. Construction, quantity, artwork, sizing and timeline reviewed. Vague briefs are the single largest cause of delay and commonly add several weeks in sampling loops.First sample — 7–10 days. The silhouette is developed in representative fabric and decoration is tested on the actual material.Revision rounds — 7–14 days each. One to three rounds is normal. Change one variable at a time so you know which change produced which result.Pre-production approval. Approve only when measurements, artwork, trims and construction match the intended bulk version.Bulk production — 25–35 days. Cutting, sewing, decoration and in-line checks, depending on volume and workload.QC and packing — 3–10 days. Measurement checks, workmanship inspection, labeling and packing.Freight — 20–30 days by sea to the US or Europe, or 5–7 days by air at roughly 5–6 times the cost. What pushes the timeline out: custom-dyed or imported fabric, where mill lead time sits outside the sewing floor; wash development, because the washed garment can still shift after an unwashed fit approval; and decoration testing on materials where the surface behaves differently from a test swatch. Sublimation moves the whole graphic into the fabric rather than onto it, which is why it does not crack or peel — but it also means the artwork must be final before printing, because there is no second pass on a full-color print..Quality checkpoints protect the calendar: after cutting, mid-production on the first units off the line, and pre-shipment against AQL 2.5. Catching an issue at the first checkpoint costs a correction; catching it after packing costs a rework cycle.Send your tech pack and target launch date and we will come back with a dated sampling and production plan — contact VANRD.

Question 3

Custom sports jerseys are built from four decisions: fabric and weight, construction and trims, decoration, and the private label pack. Weight reference: lightweight performance knits, chosen for hand-feel and moisture behaviour rather than warmth.

Accepted Answer

Custom sports jerseys are built from four decisions: fabric and weight, construction and trims, decoration, and the private label pack. Each one changes cost, lead time and how the finished piece reads.Fabric. The options we run most are moisture-wicking polyester knits for athletic use; performance meshes for ventilation panels; recycled polyester where sustainability is part of the brand story. For sports jerseys the practical weight reference is lightweight performance knits, chosen for hand-feel and moisture behaviour rather than warmth. Ordering by weight figure alone is not enough — two fabrics can both be called the same weight and still behave differently in wash, drape and color retention, so composition and shrinkage are confirmed by wash testing.Construction and trims. The build includes full-color sublimation printing for team and brand graphics; custom numbering and player names included in the print file; contrast panels, collars and cuff treatments specified with the pattern; size grading that holds across the team range.Decoration. Available routes include sublimation printing, screen print, heat transfer, embroidery for crests and logos. Decoration is approved on the actual fabric rather than on a test swatch, because stretch, pile, coating and heat sensitivity all change the result.Private label pack. Woven neck labels, size and care labels, logo tags, hangtags, barcoded polybags and printed cartons. A garment can leave the sewing line finished and still not be retail-ready, and this layer is what closes that gap.A note specific to this category: Sublimation moves the whole graphic into the fabric rather than onto it, which is why it does not crack or peel — but it also means the artwork must be final before printing, because there is no second pass on a full-color print.Send us your specification or reference and we will tell you which of these decisions drives your cost the most — contact VANRD.

Question 4

Custom sports jerseys commonly fall in the costed per unit, driven by fabric technology, sublimation coverage and finishing per unit FOB range. Fabric weight, construction, decoration and order volume drive the number, not the factory's margin alone.

Accepted Answer

Custom sports jerseys commonly fall in the costed per unit, driven by fabric technology, sublimation coverage and finishing per unit FOB range. Within that band, full-color sublimation is priced by coverage and complexity, not just by piece. A unit price quoted without fabric weight, construction details, decoration method and order volume is not comparable across suppliers. What moves the number:Fabric — moisture-wicking polyester knits for athletic use; performance meshes for ventilation panels; recycled polyester where sustainability is part of the brand story. Weight and composition are usually the single largest cost line.Construction and trims — custom numbering and player names included in the print file, and size grading that holds across the team range.Decoration — sublimation printing, screen print, heat transfer, embroidery for crests and logos.Volume — the same specification at 100 pieces and at 1,000 pieces does not carry the same unit cost, because setup is amortized differently.A low quote is rarely a lower cost. When three suppliers quote different prices for the same garment, the difference is usually the fabric weight, a stock trim substituted for a specified one, or a decoration method quietly swapped. Compare quotations only after aligning fabric, construction, decoration, labels, packaging and quantity — and ask each supplier to state what is excluded.Reference points across the range: sample fees are typically USD 50–150 for a simple garment and USD 150–400 where multiple fabric panels and custom trims are involved, usually deductible from the bulk order; sea freight adds roughly USD 1–2.50 per unit at volume, and air freight costs about 5–6 times more.Send your fabric preference, target quantity per color and decoration method, and we will price the actual bill of materials rather than a category average — contact VANRD.

Question 5

VANRD's minimum order quantity for custom sports jerseys is 100 pieces per color per style, a per-color minimum rather than a per-order minimum. Sampling runs 7-10 days before bulk production.

Accepted Answer

VANRD's minimum order quantity for custom sports jerseys is 100 pieces per color per style. It is a per-color minimum rather than a per-order minimum, so a two-color program starts at 200 pieces and a four-color program at 400. Sizes can be mixed inside a colorway as long as the total for that color reaches 100.The minimum exists because sports jerseys carry setup costs that a basic tee does not. Fabric minimums, pattern development, trims with their own supplier minimums and a separate sampling round all have to be carried by the first order. At 100 pieces those costs sit on a small quantity; at 500 pieces the same setup spreads across five times as many units, which is why unit price falls as volume rises.Three things can push the minimum higher:Custom-dyed colorways carry their own mill dye-lot minimum on top of the garment minimum.Specialist constructions — a jersey is built around print coverage and moisture behaviour, against a hoodie where warmth and hand-feel lead the spec.Exclusive trims — custom zipper pulls, branded drawcord tips, custom buttons and patch work each carry a supplier minimum of their own.Once custom numbering and player names included in the print file is approved, a second or third colorway becomes a fabric and trim decision rather than a new development cycle. Brands that plan for a reorder before the first order usually start with one color on a spec designed to accept more.Sampling runs 7–10 days after the specification and available materials are confirmed, and bulk production takes 25–35 days after pre-production approval.Send us your target quantity per color and size range and we will confirm the minimum against your actual sports jersey fabric and trim choices, rather than quoting a generic number — contact VANRD.

Question 6

Choosing a manufacturer for custom sports jerseys comes down to category experience, specification control, evidence such as QC checklists, and commercial fit. FOB reference costed per unit, driven by fabric technology, sublimation coverage and finishing.

Accepted Answer

Choosing a manufacturer for custom sports jerseys comes down to four checks: category experience, specification control, evidence, and commercial fit.Category experience. Sublimation moves the whole graphic into the fabric rather than onto it, which is why it does not crack or peel — but it also means the artwork must be final before printing, because there is no second pass on a full-color print.Specification control. A manufacturer should be able to describe the fabric, the weight reference and the construction items it will control: moisture-wicking polyester knits for athletic use and performance meshes for ventilation panels, with full-color sublimation printing for team and brand graphics and custom numbering and player names included in the print file. If those are vague before you order, they will be vague during production.Evidence. Ask for a QC checklist, a measurement sheet with tolerances, the AQL standard they work to, and a clear statement of what is produced in-house versus subcontracted. A supplier that answers yes to everything has not read your brief.Commercial fit. Minimum order is 100 pieces per color per style, sampling runs 7–10 days, bulk production 25–35 days, and indicative FOB pricing for sports jerseys sits in the costed per unit, driven by fabric technology, sublimation coverage and finishing range — full-color sublimation is priced by coverage and complexity, not just by piece.VANRD manufactures in Dongguan, China, working to AQL 2.5 inspection with ISO 9001 process control, with BSCI or WRAP social compliance and OEKO-TEX Standard 100 fabric certification available.Send your specification and we will tell you what is straightforward, what needs development, and what we would warn you about — contact VANRD.

Question 7

A specialist custom shirt manufacturer controls fabric, construction, trims, decoration and QC as one recorded specification, which is what keeps fit and color consistent between the first run and the reorder.

Accepted Answer

Working with a manufacturer that specializes in custom shirts means one team controls the fabric spec, construction, trims, decoration and quality standard as a single recorded specification — which is what keeps fit, color and hand-feel consistent between the first production run and the reorder. What that control looks like in practice: button specification including size, color and spacing, and size grading across collar and sleeve length. Recorded properly, those two items are what make a reorder arrive identical to the first run instead of merely similar.A useful way to tell a factory from a trading company: it asks about your fabric, sizing and timeline before quoting; it flags problems before you find them, such as warning that the shirt's specification is mostly about construction, not fabric; it shares evidence such as QC checklists and measurement sheets; it discusses specific defects rather than claiming perfect quality; it is willing to run a small pilot order; and its business entity and factory address can be verified independently. The commercial frame: minimum order 100 pieces per color per style, sampling in 7–10 days, bulk production in 25–35 days, and indicative FOB pricing in the $8–30+ range.VANRD manufactures in Dongguan, China, with ISO 9001 process control, with BSCI or WRAP social compliance and OEKO-TEX Standard 100 fabric certification available.Tell us what you are developing and we will tell you honestly whether it is a good fit for our line — contact VANRD.

Question 9

custom shirts are built from four decisions: fabric and weight, construction and trims, decoration, and the private label pack. Weight reference: woven weights chosen by season and by the dress-or-casual position of the style.

Accepted Answer

custom shirts are built from four decisions: fabric and weight, construction and trims, decoration, and the private label pack. Each one changes cost, lead time and how the finished piece reads.Fabric. The options we run most are linen and linen blends; brushed cotton for cooler seasons; cotton poplin, Oxford and twill weaves. For custom shirts the practical weight reference is woven weights chosen by season and by the dress-or-casual position of the style. Ordering by weight figure alone is not enough — two fabrics can both be called the same weight and still behave differently in wash, drape and color retention, so composition and shrinkage are confirmed by wash testing.Construction and trims. Question 10

custom shirts commonly fall in the $8–30+ per unit FOB range. Fabric weight, construction, decoration and order volume drive the number, not the factory's margin alone.

Accepted Answer

custom shirts commonly fall in the $8–30+ per unit FOB range. Within that band, fabric, collar/cuff construction and branding method drive the number. Question 11

VANRD's minimum order quantity for custom shirts is 100 pieces per color per style, a per-color minimum rather than a per-order minimum. Sampling runs 7-10 days before bulk production.

Accepted Answer

VANRD's minimum order quantity for custom shirts is 100 pieces per color per style. It is a per-color minimum rather than a per-order minimum, so a two-color program starts at 200 pieces and a four-color program at 400. Sizes can be mixed inside a colorway as long as the total for that color reaches 100.A 100-piece order and a 1,000-piece order are not the same economics. Pattern development, fabric minimums, and trims that carry their own supplier minimums are fixed costs, and at 100 pieces they are absorbed by a small number of garments. The practical consequence is that unit cost at the minimum is the highest you will pay — every additional piece lowers the average.Three things can push the minimum higher:Custom-dyed colorways carry their own mill dye-lot minimum on top of the garment minimum.Specialist constructions — a woven shirt program runs on pattern accuracy where a knit program runs on fabric hand-feel.Exclusive trims — custom zipper pulls, branded drawcord tips, custom buttons and patch work each carry a supplier minimum of their own.Once button specification including size, color and spacing is approved, a second or third colorway becomes a fabric and trim decision rather than a new development cycle. Question 12

Choosing a manufacturer for custom dress shirts comes down to category experience, specification control, evidence such as QC checklists, and commercial fit. FOB reference $8–30+.

Accepted Answer

Choosing a manufacturer for custom dress shirts comes down to four checks: category experience, specification control, evidence, and commercial fit.Category experience. Dress shirts are graded on collar size and sleeve length rather than on a single chest measurement, which is a different size chart from every other garment in the line. Getting that chart right is what allows the shirt to be bought as a dress shirt.Specification control. A manufacturer should be able to describe the fabric, the weight reference and the construction items it will control: cotton poplin for a clean dress surface and Oxford weave for a more textured everyday shirt, with a collar and cuff construction locked by pattern with defined interlining and placket width and finish specified rather than defaulted. Minimum order is 100 pieces per color per style, sampling runs 7–10 days, bulk production 25–35 days, and indicative FOB pricing for dress shirts sits in the $8–30+ range — fabric, collar and cuff construction and button quality drive the number.VANRD manufactures in Dongguan, China, working to AQL 2.5 inspection with ISO 9001 process control, with BSCI or WRAP social compliance and OEKO-TEX Standard 100 fabric certification available.Send your specification and we will tell you what is straightforward, what needs development, and what we would warn you about — contact VANRD.

Question 15

Custom polo shirts are built from four decisions: fabric and weight, construction and trims, decoration, and the private label pack. Weight reference: pique weight is chosen against whether the polo is a lifestyle piece or a performance piece.

Accepted Answer

Custom polo shirts are built from four decisions: fabric and weight, construction and trims, decoration, and the private label pack. Each one changes cost, lead time and how the finished piece reads.Fabric. The options we run most are pique cotton for the classic polo surface; cotton-poly pique for color and shape retention; jersey or performance knits for sport-led programs. For polo shirts the practical weight reference is pique weight is chosen against whether the polo is a lifestyle piece or a performance piece. Ordering by weight figure alone is not enough — two fabrics can both be called the same weight and still behave differently in wash, drape and color retention, so composition and shrinkage are confirmed by wash testing.Construction and trims. The build includes a placket and collar construction that holds shape, which is what separates a good polo from a cheap one; ribbed or self-fabric collar with a defined roll; side vents and a longer back hem where the garment is worn untucked; embroidered or printed branding at the left chest as standard.Decoration. Available routes include embroidery, screen print, heat transfer, applique, woven labels. Decoration is approved on the actual fabric rather than on a test swatch, because stretch, pile, coating and heat sensitivity all change the result.Private label pack. Woven neck labels, size and care labels, logo tags, hangtags, barcoded polybags and printed cartons. A garment can leave the sewing line finished and still not be retail-ready, and this layer is what closes that gap.A note specific to this category: The polo collar is the tell. A collar that flops or curls makes an otherwise correct polo look inexpensive, so collar interlining and roll are specified as part of the pattern rather than chosen after the first sample.Send us your specification or reference and we will tell you which of these decisions drives your cost the most — contact VANRD.

Question 16

Custom polo shirts commonly fall in the $8–28+ per unit FOB range. Fabric weight, construction, decoration and order volume drive the number, not the factory's margin alone.

Accepted Answer

Custom polo shirts commonly fall in the $8–28+ per unit FOB range. Within that band, fabric, placket construction and embroidery coverage are the main cost lines. A unit price quoted without fabric weight, construction details, decoration method and order volume is not comparable across suppliers. What moves the number:Fabric — pique cotton for the classic polo surface; cotton-poly pique for color and shape retention; jersey or performance knits for sport-led programs. Weight and composition are usually the single largest cost line.Construction and trims — ribbed or self-fabric collar with a defined roll, and embroidered or printed branding at the left chest as standard.Decoration — embroidery, screen print, heat transfer, applique, woven labels.Volume — the same specification at 100 pieces and at 1,000 pieces does not carry the same unit cost, because setup is amortized differently.A low quote is rarely a lower cost. Question 17

VANRD's minimum order quantity for custom polo shirts is 100 pieces per color per style, a per-color minimum rather than a per-order minimum. Sampling runs 7-10 days before bulk production.

Accepted Answer

VANRD's minimum order quantity for custom polo shirts is 100 pieces per color per style. It is a per-color minimum rather than a per-order minimum, so a two-color program starts at 200 pieces and a four-color program at 400. Sizes can be mixed inside a colorway as long as the total for that color reaches 100.The minimum exists because polo shirts carry setup costs that a basic tee does not. Fabric minimums, pattern development, trims with their own supplier minimums and a separate sampling round all have to be carried by the first order. At 100 pieces those costs sit on a small quantity; at 500 pieces the same setup spreads across five times as many units, which is why unit price falls as volume rises.Three things can push the minimum higher:Custom-dyed colorways carry their own mill dye-lot minimum on top of the garment minimum.Specialist constructions — pique knit gives the polo its distinct textured surface, against the flat jersey of a t-shirt.Exclusive trims — custom zipper pulls, branded drawcord tips, custom buttons and patch work each carry a supplier minimum of their own.Once ribbed or self-fabric collar with a defined roll is approved, a second or third colorway becomes a fabric and trim decision rather than a new development cycle. Brands that plan for a reorder before the first order usually start with one color on a spec designed to accept more.Sampling runs 7–10 days after the specification and available materials are confirmed, and bulk production takes 25–35 days after pre-production approval.Send us your target quantity per color and size range and we will confirm the minimum against your actual polo shirt fabric and trim choices, rather than quoting a generic number — contact VANRD.

Question 18

Starting a custom polo shirt line runs positioning, fabric, tech pack, sample, fit revision, then bulk. FOB reference $8–28+; minimum 100 pieces per color per style.

Accepted Answer

Starting a polo shirt line with a private label manufacturer runs in six steps: positioning, fabric and weight, tech pack, first sample, fit revision, then bulk production.Positioning comes first because a piece sold at a value price point should not follow the same development logic as a premium piece at three times the retail. That single decision sets fabric, construction, decoration budget and packaging. The practical reference points: fabric options are pique cotton for the classic polo surface and cotton-poly pique for color and shape retention; weight guidance is pique weight is chosen against whether the polo is a lifestyle piece or a performance piece; indicative FOB pricing sits in the $8–28+ range. Minimum order is 100 pieces per color per style, sampling takes 7–10 days and bulk production 25–35 days. The most common mistake is starting with a broad first collection. A focused range of a few styles, produced properly, is what allows a reorder to be built on a proven specification.Send your concept and target price point and we will map out a realistic first range — contact VANRD.

Question 19

A specialist flannel shirt manufacturer controls fabric, construction, trims, decoration and QC as one recorded specification, which is what keeps fit and color consistent between the first run and the reorder.

Accepted Answer

Working with a manufacturer that specializes in flannel shirts means one team controls the fabric spec, construction, trims, decoration and quality standard as a single recorded specification — which is what keeps fit, color and hand-feel consistent between the first production run and the reorder. On this category specifically, the controls that matter are: plaid matching at the center front, pocket and yoke, which is the accuracy test on this garment; a brushed surface that stays even after washing; collar, cuff and placket construction matched to the weight of the fabric. Those are specification items, not preferences. When they are recorded they repeat; when they are agreed verbally they drift between runs.A useful way to tell a factory from a trading company: it asks about your fabric, sizing and timeline before quoting; it flags problems before you find them, such as warning that plaid matching is the whole quality story on a flannel; it shares evidence such as QC checklists and measurement sheets; it discusses specific defects rather than claiming perfect quality; it is willing to run a small pilot order; and its business entity and factory address can be verified independently.

Question 20

A first custom flannel shirt sample takes 7–10 days after the specification and available materials are confirmed, and bulk production runs 25–35 days after pre-production approval. Plaid matching is the whole quality story on a flannel.Quality checkpoints protect the calendar: after cutting, mid-production on the first units off the line, and pre-shipment against AQL 2.5. Catching an issue at the first checkpoint costs a correction; catching it after packing costs a rework cycle.Send your tech pack and target launch date and we will come back with a dated sampling and production plan — contact VANRD.

Question 21

Custom flannel shirts are built from four decisions: fabric and weight, construction and trims, decoration, and the private label pack. Weight reference: flannel weight is selected by season, from light single-brushed cotton through to heavier double-brushed winter weights.

Accepted Answer

Custom flannel shirts are built from four decisions: fabric and weight, construction and trims, decoration, and the private label pack. Each one changes cost, lead time and how the finished piece reads.Fabric. The options we run most are brushed cotton flannel in a range of weights; cotton-poly flannel blends for stability; heavier brushed flannel for winter overshirts. For flannel shirts the practical weight reference is flannel weight is selected by season, from light single-brushed cotton through to heavier double-brushed winter weights. Ordering by weight figure alone is not enough — two fabrics can both be called the same weight and still behave differently in wash, drape and color retention, so composition and shrinkage are confirmed by wash testing.Construction and trims. The build includes plaid matching at the center front, pocket and yoke, which is the accuracy test on this garment; a brushed surface that stays even after washing; collar, cuff and placket construction matched to the weight of the fabric; button and pocket detail agreed at sampling.Decoration. Available routes include embroidery, woven labels, patch branding. Decoration is approved on the actual fabric rather than on a test swatch, because stretch, pile, coating and heat sensitivity all change the result.Private label pack. Woven neck labels, size and care labels, logo tags, hangtags, barcoded polybags and printed cartons. A garment can leave the sewing line finished and still not be retail-ready, and this layer is what closes that gap.A note specific to this category: Plaid matching is the whole quality story on a flannel. If the pattern does not line up across the center front and pocket, the shirt reads as a low-cost import regardless of the fabric inside it — and matching costs cutting time, so it has to be priced in from the start.Send us your specification or reference and we will tell you which of these decisions drives your cost the most — contact VANRD.

Question 22

Custom flannel shirts commonly fall in the $8–30+ per unit FOB range. Fabric weight, construction, decoration and order volume drive the number, not the factory's margin alone.

Accepted Answer

Custom flannel shirts commonly fall in the $8–30+ per unit FOB range. Within that band, brush quality, plaid matching and pocket/placket complexity drive the number. A unit price quoted without fabric weight, construction details, decoration method and order volume is not comparable across suppliers. What moves the number:Fabric — brushed cotton flannel in a range of weights; cotton-poly flannel blends for stability; heavier brushed flannel for winter overshirts. Weight and composition are usually the single largest cost line.Construction and trims — a brushed surface that stays even after washing, and button and pocket detail agreed at sampling.Decoration — embroidery, woven labels, patch branding.Volume — the same specification at 100 pieces and at 1,000 pieces does not carry the same unit cost, because setup is amortized differently.A low quote is rarely a lower cost.

Question 23

VANRD's minimum order quantity for custom flannel shirts is 100 pieces per color per style, a per-color minimum rather than a per-order minimum. Sampling runs 7-10 days before bulk production.

Accepted Answer

VANRD's minimum order quantity for custom flannel shirts is 100 pieces per color per style. It is a per-color minimum rather than a per-order minimum, so a two-color program starts at 200 pieces and a four-color program at 400. Sizes can be mixed inside a colorway as long as the total for that color reaches 100.The minimum exists because flannel shirts carry setup costs that a basic tee does not. Fabric minimums, pattern development, trims with their own supplier minimums and a separate sampling round all have to be carried by the first order. At 100 pieces those costs sit on a small quantity; at 500 pieces the same setup spreads across five times as many units, which is why unit price falls as volume rises.Three things can push the minimum higher:Custom-dyed colorways carry their own mill dye-lot minimum on top of the garment minimum.Specialist constructions — a brushed flannel surface is visibly softer and more textured than a flat woven shirt, and it is worn as an overshirt rather than as a dress shirt.Exclusive trims — custom zipper pulls, branded drawcord tips, custom buttons and patch work each carry a supplier minimum of their own.Once a brushed surface that stays even after washing is approved, a second or third colorway becomes a fabric and trim decision rather than a new development cycle. Brands that plan for a reorder before the first order usually start with one color on a spec designed to accept more.Sampling runs 7–10 days after the specification and available materials are confirmed, and bulk production takes 25–35 days after pre-production approval.Send us your target quantity per color and size range and we will confirm the minimum against your actual flannel shirt fabric and trim choices, rather than quoting a generic number — contact VANRD.

Question 24

Choosing a manufacturer for custom flannel shirts comes down to category experience, specification control, evidence such as QC checklists, and commercial fit. FOB reference $8–30+.

Accepted Answer

Choosing a manufacturer for custom flannel shirts comes down to four checks: category experience, specification control, evidence, and commercial fit.Category experience. A manufacturer should be able to describe the fabric, the weight reference and the construction items it will control: brushed cotton flannel in a range of weights and cotton-poly flannel blends for stability, with plaid matching at the center front, pocket and yoke, which is the accuracy test on this garment and a brushed surface that stays even after washing. If those are vague before you order, they will be vague during production.Evidence. Question 27

Custom t-shirts commonly fall in the $3.50–10+ per unit FOB range. Fabric weight, construction, decoration and order volume drive the number, not the factory's margin alone.

Accepted Answer

Custom t-shirts commonly fall in the $3.50–10+ per unit FOB range. Within that band, basic custom T-shirts sit at the lower end of the apparel range, which makes fabric weight the most visible cost lever. A unit price quoted without fabric weight, construction details, decoration method and order volume is not comparable across suppliers. What moves the number:Fabric — 100% cotton jersey for print clarity and a natural hand; cotton-poly blends for shape retention; ring-spun cotton for a softer surface. Weight and composition are usually the single largest cost line.Construction and trims — shoulder-to-shoulder taping or seam reinforcement, and a size grading that holds from S to 3XL.Decoration — screen print, DTG, heat transfer, embroidery, puff print, discharge print.Volume — the same specification at 100 pieces and at 1,000 pieces does not carry the same unit cost, because setup is amortized differently.A low quote is rarely a lower cost. Question 28

VANRD's minimum order quantity for custom t-shirts is 100 pieces per color per style, a per-color minimum rather than a per-order minimum. Sampling runs 7-10 days before bulk production.

Accepted Answer

VANRD's minimum order quantity for custom t-shirts is 100 pieces per color per style. It is a per-color minimum rather than a per-order minimum, so a two-color program starts at 200 pieces and a four-color program at 400. Sizes can be mixed inside a colorway as long as the total for that color reaches 100.The minimum exists because t-shirts carry setup costs that a basic tee does not. Brands that plan for a reorder before the first order usually start with one color on a spec designed to accept more.Sampling runs 7–10 days after the specification and available materials are confirmed, and bulk production takes 25–35 days after pre-production approval.Send us your target quantity per color and size range and we will confirm the minimum against your actual t-shirt fabric and trim choices, rather than quoting a generic number — contact VANRD.

Question 29

T-shirt weights run 150–180 GSM for light summer shapes, 180–220 GSM as the commercial standard, 220–260 GSM for heavyweight programs and 260 GSM and above for ultra-heavyweight pieces. Weight is the most visible cost lever; the neck rib decides perceived quality.

Accepted Answer

T-shirt fabric weight falls into four working bands: 150–180 GSM for light summer and print-clear shapes, 180–220 GSM as the everyday commercial standard, 220–260 GSM for a heavyweight program, and 260 GSM and above for an ultra-heavyweight piece. Which one is "best" depends entirely on where the shirt will sit at retail.150–180 GSM. Light, drapes close to the body, and takes fine detail print well. Suits summer pieces, promotional work and layered styling. It is also the least forgiving of a thin fabric — at this weight, yarn quality shows, because there is nowhere to hide.180–220 GSM. The commercial middle, and where most private label programs land. It feels substantial without being heavy, holds a clean shoulder line, and works for both print and embroidery. Roughly 180 GSM is about 5.3 oz/yd², and 220 GSM about 6.5 oz — useful when comparing against suppliers who quote in ounces.220–260 GSM. A heavyweight program. The garment hangs away from the body and reads premium on the shelf. This is the band for a brand building a signature basic rather than a seasonal print drop. Cost rises with the weight because the raw material rises with it.260 GSM and above. Ultra-heavyweight, boxy, deliberately structured. A statement piece. Best treated as a hero product rather than the base of a range, because the price point it forces is narrow.Print compatibility. Lighter jersey suits DTG and fine screen detail; heavier weights suit puff print and thick-plastisol work, which need fabric that will not collapse under the ink.Opacity and coverage. Very light jersey can show through on darker inks; if the design is a large dark print, step the weight up.Wash behaviour. Heavier jersey generally shrinks less proportionally and holds shape better across repeat washes. One thing matters more than the GSM figure. The neck rib is the whole quality story on a T-shirt. A collar that ripples after the first wash undermines the print, the fabric and the brand at the same time — and it is the cheapest element on the garment to specify properly. Rib that recovers, shoulder-to-shoulder taping, side seams rather than a tubular body, and a size grade that holds from S to 3XL are what make the weight you chose actually read as quality.Indicative FOB pricing for custom T-shirts is $3.50–10+ per unit, which makes fabric weight the most visible cost lever on the style. Sampling takes 7–10 days and bulk production 25–35 days after pre-production approval, with 20–30 days by sea to the US or Europe. Minimum order is 100 pieces per color per style.Tell us the print method and the retail price and we will tell you which weight and construction hold up — contact VANRD.
